WASH INSTRUCTIONS

  • Always Dry Clean - Silk is a delicate fabric and therefore it needs a skilled hand to wash it. Dry cleaning is the best way to handle fabrics like these.
  • Washing - If you end up washing the silk saree at home, always use cold water with a little shampoo. Shampoos are far better than harsh detergents & brushes which harm your beloved saree!
  • Never wring it - That is the last thing you want to do. It will spoil the saree and zari forever. Instead, just roll the saree in a dry towel to remove the extra moisture and simply hang it onto a padded hanger.
  • Drying - Always avoid drying your beloved silk saree in direct sunlight. You may dry somewhere inside having no direct sunlight.
  • Ironing - Do not iron your silk saree directly. Direct ironing may affect its shine. Always put a cloth over it and then iron.
  • Tough Stains - If your Banarasi silk saree catches a tough stain, give it for dry cleaning as soon as possible. The more the delay, the tougher it gets to remove the stain.

SPECIAL CARE

  • Storing - Don't store your beloved Banarasi silk saree with cotton or other sarees. Wrap your precious saree in a muslin cloth or pure cotton cloth and store it separately to maintain its longevity.
  • Folding - Always fold your Banarasi silk saree with zari inwards. This prevents the damage to zari and also lasts its sheen.
  • Color fading - To avoid color fading, always store your silk saree in a dry & dark place with no direct sunlight.
  • Handling - Change the folding of your precious silk saree by unfolding it every 3-4 months. Instead of plastic saree covers, use a cotton cloth to wrap around them.
  • Airing - Air your Banarasi silk saree within your room or in the shade once in 2-3 months ensure that your saree is well maintained for a longer period of time.
  • Fresheners - Avoid Naphthalene balls or air fresheners where sarees are stored. Instead, you may use the all-natural neem leaves or silica gel.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

SILK MARK: Silk plays an important inherent role in Indian culture. It plays a crucial role in our weddings, festivals & many special occasions. As a result of the advances in the textile processing industry, artificial/synthetic silk can be imitated very similarly to natural silk. So the question arises how can we ensure that we don't get cheated?

Well, the easiest way is the burn test (pulling out threads from both warp & weft and burning them to get a burning hair-like smell in case of pure silk), but it's not an entirely feasible option.

There comes the 'SILK MARK' tag attached to the product, which is an initiative undertaken by the Central Silk Board of India, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. Of India; ensuring that the product is made from Pure & Authentic silk. Every SILK RAGA products carry a Silk Mark tag affixed with a coded and numbered hologram as a token of genuineness.

HANDLOOM MARK: Handloom Mark is the Government of India's initiative to provide a collective identity to the handloom products in India and can be used not only for popularizing the hand woven products but can also serve as a guarantee for the buyer that the product being purchased is genuinely hand woven from India.

The Handloom Mark would therefore be a hallmark of passionate creative work that defines the product with clarity, distinguishes it from the competition, and connects it with customers. To support the above features, the ‘Handloom Mark’ is specially developed with the logo and unique coding. Each SILK RAGA products carry the Handloom tag with pride.
