Real Gold Zari Saree

Among the finest sarees in India, Banarasi sarees are renowned all over the world for their sheer Handloom craftsmanship. The handloom weavers create artistic weaves using pure gold and silver zari with high-quality natural Resham threads. A typical handloom saree takes on an average of 25 days of extensive focussed workmanship by 2 weavers. Ideally, a Banarasi saree has around 5600 thread wires each being 45 inches wide.

Zari (or Jari) is an even thread traditionally made of fine gold or silver filmed around a yarn made of silk, cotton, etc. The intricate patterns and designs are so exquisite that the overall fabric gets a rich, beautiful, and aesthetic look.

As per the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the zari is called pure zari only when the percentage of pure silver is not less than 50 percent of the mass of the zari material. In case the silver is coated with gold, the gold content shall not be less than 0.5 percent of the zari material.
